1934
Developed the “copper method” to produce iodine from natural gas brine by using copper sulfate and iron sulfate. The following year, we succeeded in mass-producing iodine from natural gas brine for the first time in Japan.

GODO SHIGEN is located in Chosei-mura, the only village in Chiba Prefecture. Within the Minami-Kanto Gas Field, which is a water-soluble natural gas deposit extending over the southern Kanto region, the Kujukuri area, including Chosei-mura, is particularly active in the production of natural gas brine.
